The Ministry of Sports has allowed wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia to miss the World Championships trials. They have received fitness certificates and will train abroad until the Asian Games. The Sports Authority of India wanted Bajrang to attend the trials or provide a fitness certificate. Bajrang wanted to skip the trials and train abroad for the Asian Games. Bajrang and Deepak do not want to compete in the World Championships and prefer to train for the Asian Games. The ministry has approved their proposals, but they need to provide a fitness certificate and a valid reason for not participating in the trials. Bajrang has already given his reasons through email. Furthermore, on August 21st, SAI performed a medical evaluation to determine if he was physically capable of participating in sports. The evaluation resulted in him being deemed fit to play and train competitively. Additionally, Deepak provided his response and medical certificate on August 22nd. The athletes have given the necessary documents. Now, SAI wants them to tell when they will be traveling. The tickets for their travel will be booked as soon as they respond. Bajrang wants to train in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan and Deepak wants to train in Khasavyurt, Russia for the Asian Games. The World Championships is an important tournament for the Olympic Games and SAI is unhappy that Bajrang and Deepak want to skip the trials.
