On Chandigarh, July 4, an Australian newspaper portrayed England captain Ben Stokes in a negative light with a headline depicting him as a “crybaby” with a dummy in his mouth. The article referred to England’s reaction to Jonny Bairstow’s stumping in the Lord’s Ashes Test as “whingeing” and Stokes responded by saying he doesn’t bowl with the new ball. Sir Geoffrey Boycott has called for an apology from the Australian team over the stumping incident and the reaction of fans was mixed with some chanting “same old Aussies, always cheating” and others booing the visitors. Pat Cummins defended the dismissal but Ben Stokes said he would not want to win in “that manner”.
